ZiAAS – Enabling Legacy Devices in a Cloud-First World

Updated: Sep 9

The Challenge

ZiAAS’ customers faced a growing compatibility issue. Their printers, scanners, and other legacy devices were unable to log, track, and report emails through modern cloud platforms like Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace. These older systems simply could not communicate with the newer, security-hardened infrastructure of these platforms.

The traditional answer would have been to replace the devices entirely. But for many customers, these devices were still functioning perfectly, and wholesale replacement was both costly and disruptive.

The Innovation

Rather than pushing customers toward unnecessary upgrades, ZiAAS identified an opportunity for innovation. They developed the SMTP Relay product, a secure, cloud-based solution designed to bridge the gap between legacy devices and modern email platforms.

SMTP Relay allows legacy systems to securely send emails through Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace. This preserves customers’ existing hardware investments while ensuring smooth integration with modern platforms.

The Solution in Action

The SMTP Relay platform solves the incompatibility problem by:

  • Enabling secure communication between legacy devices and Office 365/Google Workspace.

  • Allowing organizations to extend the lifespan of their existing infrastructure.

  • Delivering a cost-effective alternative to replacing hardware prematurely.

The Technology

Transparently is proud to be the design and development partner for ZiAAS on this innovative product. The platform is built using .NET Core and deployed on the Azure Cloud. To ensure performance, scalability, and reliability, the solution leverages Linux-based Docker containers.

The Impact

With SMTP Relay, ZiAAS customers can continue to rely on their existing devices while gaining the security and compliance benefits of modern cloud email platforms. The solution underscores ZiAAS’ commitment to customer value and technical innovation.
